High Country Local First and Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture’s Lettuce Learn Program to offer grant funding to support school gardening initiatives in Ashe and Watauga Counties.

Farm-to-school grant awards will total $1,500 and will be given to local schools and preschools interested in building or expanding their garden-based education programming.

The grant program aims to support teachers, schools, and early childhood education sites as children are taught about the food they eat and how it’s grown.

High Country Local First and Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture will use the grants to provide resources to support the development of new and existing farm-to-school projects and increase the number of relationships between local farmers and schools.

The grant is funded and managed by a partnership between Boone-based organizations, High Country Local First and Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture.
