January at the Watauga County Library has something for everyone.

The Watauga County Library has announced that the Appalachian Regional Library (which includes Watauga) was awarded a Library Services and Technology Act grant to promote a community read and have the author come to speak as well. The theme is "Maintaining and Managing Your Mental Health", something we all can strive for in the year ahead.
The book we are promoting is "Cracked, Not Broken" by Kevin Hines. Kevin will be speaking at the Boone United Methodist Church on Monday, April 16 at 6:30 pm.
We will have Read and Return copies available soon, and we are in the process of cataloging copies for checkout.
A kick off will be Thursday, February 1 to inform the public about this book, author visits, and other program offerings.

Join the 2018 Reading Challenge and broaden your horizons!
Do you find that you gravitate toward the same genre when reading? Would you like to diversify your reading more and take a chance on other authors/areas that you normally would not read? How about...
An Edgar Award Winner?
A Book With a Title (Or Has a Word In The Title) That Is a Palindrome?
A Cli-fi Book?
These are just a few of the categories for 2018! Want to participate? You can download a printable .pdf version of the categories here or you can pick one up in person at the library. Each time you write a review, you will earn a ticket that can be used in a prize drawing at the end of the year!

The Watauga County Public Library's Volunteer for Tax Assistance Program (VITA) will be offered to those who generally make $54,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.
