Spring Forward an Hour this Weekend and Check Smoke Alarms PDF Print

Don’t forget to set your clocks forward one hour before you go to bed on Saturday.


Fire Prevention Specialist with the Boone Fire Department, Matthew Crawford, said its also a good rule of thumb to check smoke detectors every time you have to change your clocks.


Crawford said batteries in smoke detectors should be checked twice a year and daylight savings time is a great time to check.


Crawford said any resident who needs a smoke detector should let the fire department know.  He explained, “If you don’t have a smoke alarm and you’re financially unable to provide one, you can give me a call at the Boone Fire Department at 268-6180.  If someone out in the county needs something, they can give me a call and I can get the right person the information.”
