The ASU News Bureau has issued an updated statement about the death of a student in the early afternoon yesterday at a dorm on campus. The statement reads, “The Appalachian State University student who was found dead in her campus residence hall Thursday has been identified as Keegan Garratt, a 19-year-old freshman from Cary. The university continues to offer counseling to friends and others on campus affected by Garratt's death. A memorial book will be available for signing at Plemmons Student Union on campus beginning Friday afternoon. The book will be sent to Garratt’s family as an expression of the university’s concern and care for them. Funeral arrangements for Garratt are incomplete.” Watauga Medics, Boone Fire, and ASU Police responded to a call at White Residence Hall just after 2pm to a 4th floor bathroom area, and rushed Garratt to Watauga Medical Center while doing CPR.
