The Watauga Sheriff’s Office has identified the gunshot victim from an incident reported last night in far western Watauga County, an incident described to responding law enforcement as accidental.  The call came in at 9pm from 1099 SeminoleTrail in the Beech Creek area near the Elk Park and the state line, reports saying that the victim, 48-year old Jeffrey Lemke, managed to shoot himself in the upper thigh with a shotgun. It took some time for deputies to reach the area while first responders staged nearby, while a caller said that they were bringing the victim by car to meet the Watauga Medics ambulance. It was at an address still on Seminole Trail that the victim was found. With the assessment of the injury—the victim indeed shot in the thigh—Watauga Medics called off a medevac chopper placed on standby, and Watauga deputies began the investigation while the victim was rushed to Watauga Medical Center.  The official word about shooting the from the Watauga Sheriff’s Office is an apparent accidental shooting.
