Sheriff Confirms SCSA as Legitimate PDF Print

Sheriff Len Hagaman is reporting that he and his department are receiving a number of inquiries about a recent mailing from the NC Sheriffs Association, and with all questionable solicitations going around, he wanted to confirm that this is, indeed, a real and viable organization with real missions within the state.  He emailed; "I have received several calls about the current membership drive by the NCSA (North Carolina Sheriffs Association). Unlike many out of state solicitations, the NCSA, IS, a LEGITIMATE association consisting of all 100 Sheriff's throughout NC.The NCSA membership dues do go toward training of all NC SHERIFFS,however many potential givers would rather ensure any monies they given should go directly to the Watauga County deputies, detention staff and Telecommunicators. The WCSO does maintain a small fund (administered by county finance for audit and 3rd party oversight purposes) that is used to help with unforeseen emergencies and expenses as a result of illness, births, and deaths.I hope this helps and that our citizens feel free, if so inclined, to contribute to either the NCSA or the Watauga County Sheriff's Officer's fund."
