CCC&TI has announced that Branches, the college’s literary and arts magazine, will be released in February. The publication features prose, poetry and artwork from both CCC&TI students and members of the community. A call for submissions was issued last spring and almost 200 literature
and art entries were received. The final publication includes 29 works of literature and 30 fine art selections.
Award winners were named in the poetry, prose and artwork categories. Philip Davis won the poetry prize for his work entitled “Homeless Hopes.” A piece entitled “He Galahad” by Matt McGuire won the prose prize, and “Spider,” a photo by Kendra Reese, took first place in the fine arts category.
The college is planning a reading and reception to celebrate the release of the publication. On Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 5:30 p.m. a reception will be held in the Seila Gallery (S Building) on the Caldwell Campus of CCC&TI. On Tuesday, March 5, a reception will be held at the Watauga Occupational Training Facility on the CCC&TI Watauga Campus at 5:30 p.m. Artwork from the magazine will be on display and several authors of published pieces will be on hand for a reading at both events.
Funding for Branches was provided by the CCC&TI Foundation. Providing direction for the project was the Branches Editorial Team, which includes Jessica Chapman Faucette, Heather Chapman and Brad Prestwood as Literary Editors; Tom Thielemann as Fine Arts Editor; and Ron Wilson as Production Editor. Also assisting with the project were Nancy Risch, Paula Rash, Jane Harrison and Laura Aultman.
Copies of the magazine will be available at each of the receptions and on CCC&TI’s Caldwell and Watauga Campuses.
