App State Move In This Weekend, County Schools Begin Monday

According to App State News, by 5 p.m. Thursday afternoon about 2,300 students had moved into campus residence halls at Appalachian State University. Nearly 6,000 more are expected on campus Friday, most of whom are freshmen. Returning on-campus students will be checking in on Saturday.  

One thousand volunteers from campus and the community are helping with move-in. If you are trying to get around Boone this weekend, patience is the operative word.  Classes begin Tuesday.

On Monday morning, allow extra time to get around as school buses will be traveling throughout the High Country with the beginning of the new school year.

Don’t forget that Watauga k-8 schools will dismiss a bit later on Monday afternoon, letting out at 2:45 in order to allow students, and parents who wish to join them, to view the solar eclipse.

Avery County Schools begin the fall semester on Monday also, but will release early – letting out at 12noon with Newland Elementary School dismissing at 11:30.

Ashe County Schools start on Monday also, it will be a full, regular schedule for opening day.
