WCU Buzzer Beater Downs ASU, 79-78

Marcus Wright (Winston-Salem, N.C./Winston-Salem Prep) gave Appalachian State University men’s basketball a one-point lead with less than two minutes to play but Western Carolina’s Mike Williams responded with a buzzer-beating jumper to finish off the Mountaineers and earn a rare win in the lopsided rivalry, 79-78, at the Ramsey Center on Saturday afternoon.

Watauga High School Sports

The Watauga High School and Hickory High School basketball game scheduled for tonight has been postponed.  The game has been tentatively rescheduled for Monday.  The basketball game scheduled for tomorrow at Alexander Central will start with the JV girls at 4 pm.  Oldies 100.7 coverage of the games will begin at 6.  Also, Watauga High School wrestling versus Alexander Central will begin at 4 pm at Lantz-Eggers Gym in Boone.
