ASU Men’s Soccer to Play as Scheduled

Appalachian State University men’s soccer will participate as scheduled in this weekend’s Davidson adidas Classic in Davidson, N.C. In their first matches since the death of head coach Shaun Pendleton, the Mountaineers will face Gardner-Webb on Friday at 5 p.m. and Detroit on Sunday at 5 p.m. at Davidson’s Alumni Soccer Stadium.

Junior John Williams (Rutherfordton, N.C.) tallied the lone goal of the match, and sophomore Thomas Rusling (Sheffield, England) made five saves to lead the Lees-McRae College men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over host Lenoir-Rhyne University on Wednesday night.

'Hoppers outlast 'Dads, 5-4 In Marathon

The 1st-Half Northern Division Champion Hickory Crawdads took four one-run leads throughout the game, but the Greensboro Grasshoppers continuously battled back for the 5-4 win in 15 innings in Game 1 of the NDCS, before 2,816 fans at NewBridge Bank Park.  The Grasshoppers hold a 1-0 series lead in the best-of-three set, which heads to Hickory on Friday.
