WHS XC Dominates Caldwell County Meet

The Watuaga High mens' and women's cross country teams turned the Caldwell County Invitational into the Pioneer Invitational Wednesday afternoon at the Lenoir Aquatic and Fitness Center Soccer Complex, Lenior, NC.

'Hoppers outlast 'Dads, 5-4 In Marathon

The 1st-Half Northern Division Champion Hickory Crawdads took four one-run leads throughout the game, but the Greensboro Grasshoppers continuously battled back for the 5-4 win in 15 innings in Game 1 of the NDCS, before 2,816 fans at NewBridge Bank Park.  The Grasshoppers hold a 1-0 series lead in the best-of-three set, which heads to Hickory on Friday.

ASU Men’s Soccer Coach Pendleton Dies

Appalachian State University men’s soccer head coach Shaun Pendleton was found dead in his Boone home on Tuesday. He was 49. The entire Appalachian family is stunned and saddened by the loss of Coach Pendleton,” ASU director of athletics Charlie Cobb said. Full Story

Drive Top 'Dads In Regular-Season Finale

The 1st-Half Northern Division Champion Hickory Crawdads fell in the regular season finale, 11-4, against the Greenville Drive, before 760 fans at L.P. Frans Stadium. The first pitch was delayed by 29 minutes due to inclement weather.

Will Lamb, Ben Rowen and Francisco Mendoza combined to toss a two-hit, 3-0 win for the Hickory Crawdads in the second seven-inning game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Greenville Drive, before 2,772 fans at L.P. Frans Stadium.  The Drive won the first seven-inning game, 9-2.

Appalachian State University volleyball closed out the Kansas Jayhawk Invitational with a 3-0 sweep over Belmont on Saturday, 25-17, 25-17, 25-23. The Mountaineers improved to 4-3 on the season with the win.
