HICKORY - The Fred T. Foard High wrestling team continued its dominant march through the Northwestern 3A-4A Conference by claiming the tournament championship Saturday at St. Stephens.

CHAPEL HILL --- Former North Carolina pitcher Andrew Miller became the third player in progam history to have his number retired, with Chancellor Carol Folt and Senior Associate A.D. Larry Gallo presenting his No. 33 jersey in a ceremony Saturday at the Dean E. Smith Center. Miller, a 10-year MLB veteran, joins Dave Lemonds and B.J. Surhoff as Tar Heels who have received this unique honor.

Women's T&F Dominates at Home....Boone, N.C. - The Appalachian State University women’s track and field team simply dominated the field at the Mountaineer Open Saturday at Varsity Gym and the Holmes Center. The Mountaineers won 14 events, finishing first and second in 11 more events.

DANIELS AND DAVIS LEAD JAGUAR WOMEN TO FIFTH SUN BELT WIN....MOBILE, Ala. – Marquita Daniels and Colby Davis combined to record 43 points for the University of South Alabama women's basketball team as the Jaguars captured their fifth Sun Belt win of the season with a 71-55 victory over Appalachian State at the Mitchell Center. The win was South Alabama's third straight and fourth in its last five games.
