LRU Women's Soccer To Play In SE Regional Finals Friday

Ten Huskies Earn All-MVC Honors

The Ashe County High football team had ten players named to the Mountain Valley 1A/2A Conference All-Conference team.
Lineman Josh Wineberg led the way. He was named the Defensive Player of the Year, and he was also an all-MVC choice on offense and defense. Matthew Sexton shared dual honors with Wineberg as he was an All-MVC selection both offensively and defensively.

ASU Women's Tennis Signs Two Players

Appalachian State women’s tennis coach Colin Crothers has added two new players to his squad. High school seniors Clare Cox (Greensboro, N.C./Grimsley) and Makenzie Lasure (Asheville, N.C./Asheville) signed National Letters of Intent for 2012-13.
“Mackenzie and Clare are two of the best players in North Carolina,” said Cruthers.

ASU Baseball Inks Eight to Letters of Intent

Eight student-athletes signed National Letters of Intent to join Appalachian State University’s baseball program during the fall signing period, head coach Chris Pollard announced on Wednesday. Right-handed pitcher Sam Agnew-Wieland (Marietta, Ga./Wheeler/Middle Georgia College), left-handed pitcher Alex Barr (Boonville, N.C./Starmount), outfielder Jaylin Davis (McLeansville, N.C./Northeast Guilford), infielder Dillon Dobson (Boonville, N.C./Starmount), catcher Alex Minton (Millers Creek, N.C./West Wilkes), infielder Dylan Richardson (Randleman, N.C./Randleman), right-handed pitcher Clyde Tate (Lexington, N.C./North Davidson) and outfielder Preston Tiller (Charlotte, N.C./Ardrey Kell) will arrive at ASU next fall and take the field for the Mountaineers in 2013.

Bobcats Power Past Milligan, 96-61

Icey Patterson (Seneca, S.C.) dished out a game-high eight assists and added 14 points and four steals to lead the Lees-McRae College women's basketball team to a 96-61 win over Milligan College on Wednesday night in Williams Gymnasium.

Clendenin Earns All-Southeast Region Honors


Lees-McRae College junior Taylor Clendenin (Statesville, N.C.) has been named to the 2011 Daktronics NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball all-Southeast Region team for the first time in her career, announced region officials Wednesday.
Clendenin becomes the third Daktronics all-region selection in program history, joining former Daktronics All-American and two-time all-region honoree Whitney Justice. A native of Statesville, N.C., Clendenin earned a spot on the second team after posting perhaps her best season

Five members of the Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Team have been named to the 2011 Daktronics NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region Teams including senior defender Catherine Hauck (Lake Mary, Fla.), who was named region player of the year.
