That best describes the fortunes of the Watauga High baseball team of late. The Pioneers, who committed eight errors in their last Northwestern 3A/4A Conference game on March 21 against Hibriten, followed that up with six more on Thursday night in a 9-7 loss at Morganton-Patton.

Watauga High Athletic Director Tom Wright has announced that today's scheduled baseball games between the Pioneers and Hickory have been postponed due to inclement weather and poor field conditions.

Well, Rome wasn't built in a day and the journey of a 1,000 miles begins with the first step. And for the Watauga High softball team, patience and persistence finally paid off---at least it did on Thursday night.

The Rollins Women's Lacrosse Team (6-2), ranked No. 9 in NCAA Division II, defeated Lenoir-Rhyne (6-4), 17-10, Wednesday afternoon at Moretz Stadium. The Tars' Caroline Lamere (Longwood, Fla.) finished with a match-high four goals to go along with two assists as Rollins used a late sure to beat Lenoir-Rhyne.
