Lees-McRae Director of Cycling Tim Hall is pleased to announce the signing of four cyclists for the 2014-15 academic season, the team announced Monday afternoon.

Lees-McRae senior Tyler Dunn has been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Indoor Track & Field Winter Scholar Athlete of the Year, the conference office announced Monday morning.

Davidson and Western Carolina each posted rounds of 6-over 294 as a team Sunday to share the lead after the first round of the Southern Conference Men’s Golf Championship at the par-72, 7,122-yard National Golf Club. The Catamounts’ J.T. Poston, who attended Hickory High, holds the individual lead at 4-under 68.

The Appalachian State University baseball team dropped its second Southern Conference series of the season, losing 4-2 in the rubber game of its three game series with Elon at Latham Park on Sunday.

The Watauga High boys' and girls' track teams competed in the Tri-Cities Classic Friday and Saturday in Johnson City, TN. The WHS girls had one top-ten finish. Alison Seramer finished second in the pole vault with an effort of 11-feet. Kelsey Delapp of Gibbs High won the event with an effort of 12-feet.
