The Watauga High volleyball team dropped out of first place in the Northwestern 3A-4A Conference Monday night. The Pioneers (8-3 overall; 4-1 NW3A-4A) were bested by the Red Tornadoes in four sets, 21-25, 25-22, 15-25, 14-25 at Craft Gymnasium in a first-place showdown.

Appalachian State University volleyball players Emily Corrigan and Paige Brown earned Sun Belt Players of the Week honors for the third consecutive week, as announced by the league office on Monday.

The Appalachian State University volleyball team finished just shy of the American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 poll on Monday, receiving 24 votes for a 29th-place national ranking.

North Dakota State was yet again the No. 1 team in the Football Championship Subdivision Coaches Poll this week. The Bison just nearly missed being a unanimous No. 1 selection for the second straight week, receiving 25 of the 26 first-place votes.
