The dawn of a new era in the Sun Belt Conference began today as new members Appalachian State, Georgia Southern, Idaho and New Mexico State officially joined the league as part of its expansion effort originally announced on March 27, 2013.

Lenoir-Rhyne University's Ivan Vieitez and Brantley Rumford earned 2014 NCCSIA All-State College Division Baseball honors. NCCSIA is the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association.

Well, it didn't really take long for Freedom High to find a new football coach. Afterall, the Patriots have a strong tradition, and they've won 43 games, which includes four consecutive 10-win seasons, in the last four years.

A move that was decades in the making came to fruition on Tuesday morning when Appalachian State University officially became a member of the Sun Belt Conference.

The Hickory Crawdads returned to L.P. Frans Stadium for their first home stand of the 2nd half this week and continued their torrid pace through the month of June with five wins through the first seven games. The 'Dads have thus far posted a 23-3 record this month, already a franchise record with one game remaining.
