Gorham Named Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week....NEW ORLEANS — After limiting No. 19 UL Lafayette to one run over seven-plus innings in a 6-1 win, Appalachian State University baseball’s Breydan Gorham (Burlington, N.C./Western Alamance) has been named the Sun Belt Conference Community Coffee Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.

Playoff Schedule....The North Carolina High School Athletic Association released its postseason schedule late Monday night. One correction from earlier in the day. The Alexander Central High baseball team, which was originally the No. 28 seed in the 4A West, is now the No. 29 seed and the Cougars (14-11) will open the state playoffs at Charlotte Providence, the No. 4 seed in the West, Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
