The Appalachian State University men's track and field placed third at the Southern Conference Outdoor Championships on Sunday afternoon.

The Watauga High baseball team pulled off a dramatic comeback Saturday afternoon and defeated Southamnpton Academy from Portland, Va., to win the Tarboro Easter Classic at Municipal Stadium.

It was a long, frustrating day for the Appalachian State University softball team on Satutrday afternoon at Symassink/Lloyd Family Stadium. The Mountaineers (17-28; 5-11) dropped a pair games to UNC-Greensboro, 11-5 in game one, 20-19 in game two. The Spartans hit eight home runs in Saturday's doubleheader sweep.

The Hickory Crawdads have erupted for 21 runs in their last two games. Following 11-4 drubbing of Greensboro Friday night, the Crawdads (11-11) routed the Grasshoppers 10-1 Saturday night at L.P. Fran Stadium.

Less than 24 hours after Appalachian State University baseball scored 14 runs on 20 hits in Friday night’s series opener, Davidson turned the tables with 12 runs on 18 hits in Saturday’s 12-0 win over the Mountaineers at Beaver Field at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium.
