The North Carolina High School Athletic Association state wrestling championships at the Greensboro Coliseum rolled through its second day of action on Friday, concluding Friday night with semifinal matches in all classifications.

Appalachian State University softball began the Blues City Classic with a double header on the opening day of the tournament on Friday. Demetre Kostis had a pretty productive day on Friday at the Class 4A State Wrestling Championships in Greensboro, N.C. The Watauga High advanced to the state finals by knocking off Kollin Wade (43-4) of Cary 5-4 in the 132 pound weight class in the state semifinals.

The Hardin Park Middle School girls' basketball team capped off an undefeated season by knocking off Blwoing Rock 50-32 in the Watauga County middle school championship game at Lentz-Eggers Gym at Watauga High School.

Lees-McRae sophomore Jenah Tracy and senior Katelin Rooney combined for nine goals while the women's lacrosse team drubbed Brevard in its season opener, 18-0, in nonconference action Friday afternoon at Brevard Lacrosse Field in Brevard, N.C.
