The Avery High baseball and softball teams had three all-conference selections in the Western Highlands 1A-2A Conference. Laura Cole and Shannon Smith of the Vikings were named to teh WHC all-conference team in softball; Ty Polsgrove was named all-conference in baseball.

The Hickory Crawdads hit into four double plays Friday night in a 7-6 loss against the Greenville Drive at Fluor Field. The Crawdads (26-27) left seven runners on base and they were 1-8 with runners in scoring position. The Lenoir-Rhyne University Football Team wrapped up its two one-day Prospect Camps which took place on campus on Sunday, May 11, and Sunday, May 18.

The Ashe County High boys' tennis team had all six of its seeded players named to the Mountain Valley 1A-2A all-Conference team.

The Hickory Crawdads pulled out a 4-2 win Thursday night against the Greenville Drive at Fluor Field. The teams combined for 22 hits (the Drives had 13 hits; the Crawdads had nine), but the Crawdads (26-26) prevailed in the end thanks to a stingy defensive effort and a solid pitching performance.
