The Ashe County High football team continued its winning ways Friday night with a 28-7 win against Alleghany at Huskies Stadium in the Mountain Valley 1A-2A Conference opener for both teams.

The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team (9-3, 3-2) ended a two-match losing streak with a 3-0 sweep over Lincoln Memorial (7-6, 3-2) Friday night in a South Atlantic Conference contest at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium. The Bears defeated the Lady Railsplitters by scores of 25-14, 25-15 and 25-18.

The Lenoir-Rhyne Football Team, the sixth-ranked team in NCAA Division II, looks to remain unbeaten and untied this Saturday when the Bears return home to take on Tusculum in a South Atlantic Conference game. Kickoff at Moretz Stadium is set for 7:00 p.m.

Lenoir-Rhyne will add four members to its Sports Hall Of Fame as Kaylyn Bayly, Craig Corbett, Wilmer Walker and Daniel Willis make up the Class of 2014.

Mountaineers Fall to Ragin Cajuns in Five Sets: The Appalachian State University volleyball team suffered its first loss of the season on Friday night, falling to UL Lafayette in a five set battle.
