The Hickory Crawdads started the 2014 season with an impressive all-around win Thursday night, with the 'Dads pounding 14 hits to back a dominant

The No. 18 Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Team (31-8) made it six victories in a row with a doubleheader sweep of King (22-21), 6-0 and 3-2, Thursday afternoon at Bears Field. In addition, the Bears snapped the Tornado's 10-game winning streak.

An event that has become a highlight of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association year is scheduled for Saturday. The annual NCHSAA Hall of Fame banquet and induction ceremonies are set for the Friday Center on the campus of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, with dinner starting at 6 p.m.

A late rally fell just short as Appalachian State University men’s tennis was unable to outlast a nationally-ranked Furman squad in a 4-3 loss in Southern Conference play on Thursday at the Appalachian Tennis Courts.
