Appalachian State University will host the 2010 Southern Conference Volleyball Championship, the SoCon has announced. The tournament will be held Nov. 19-21 at ASU’s Holmes Center.

The 2010 SoCon Volleyball Championship was originally scheduled to be played at College of Charleston’s Carolina First Arena but conflicts with the annual Charleston Classic men’s basketball tournament prompted the league’s athletics directors to move the volleyball championship to Boone.
Like the SoCon’s other Olympic sports championships, the volleyball tournament will return to an eight-team format in 2010. The top four teams in each of the conference’s two divisions will compete for the league’s automatic NCAA Tournament berth during the three-day affair at the Holmes Center.
In all, Appalachian will host FIVE SoCon championships over the next two academic years. They are: 2010 cross country, 2010 volleyball, 2011 wrestling, 2011 men's soccer and 2012 softball.
