There is a remarkable example of caring that will manifest itself in an event tomorrow at the Watauga High Campus on 105, that as friends and co-workers of a Boone family put on a fund-raiser for a young man, suffering from a rare form of cancer.

Owen Miller woke Christmas morning with terrible head pain and volunteers had to fight the ice storm to get him to the hospital for a diagnosis.  That diagnosis was grim, according to family friend Becky Love, “They found out that is Pineoblastoma which is a very aggressive type of cancer that effects mostly children—but its very rare.”  All the Miller family’s extended friends network in the area decided there might be something they could do “We can’t have a million dollars and tell Owen to get well.  And we can’t go inside of that family and calm their fears and make things better.  But we can have the best blow-out benefit that has ever been done in Boone and that’s what we’ve done.”   Rollin’ for Owen cranks up on the WHS parking lot at 8:30 with a motorcycle ride, and continues throughout the day, with proceeds going to help the Miller family.
