The Region 7 All-Stars are just one win away from possibly earning a bronze medal.

Region 7 evened up its record at 1-1 in pool play Friday afternoon as it defeated Region 1 by a 5-2 score at UNC-Charlotte in the second round of the North Carolina State Games. Region 7 can move into the bronze-medal game on Sunday with a win against Region 3 Saturday afternoon.
Max Linville of Watauga High went hitless in three trips with a walk. Overall, Linville is 0-5 at the state games. Dylan Norris, who had a brillant outing in the opening round but suffered a loss, did not play on Friday.
Saturday's game with Region 3 begins at 4 pm at UNC-Charlotte. The consolation-round games will be played Sunday at Hopewell High School in Charlotte; the medal games will be played at UNC-Charlotte Sunday afternoon.

South Carolina stars sweep Showcase

South Carolina swept a double-header on Friday afternoon at Coastal Carolina University in Myrtle Beach, SC.
The South Carolina All-Stars won both games by shutout, 1-0 in game one and 5-0 in game two. Cal Hardee of Watauga High went hitless in the double-header loss. Phillip Treadway of A.C. Reynolds, who belted 15 home runs (a new school record breaking the old mark of 12 set by A.C. Reynolds coach Bryan Craig in 1988) during the high school season, had a disappointing day as well. Treadway, a .494 hitter for the Rockets, went 0-6 and struck out all six times up.
