Well, it looks like Charlie Cobb will be staying in Boone just a little longer.

The Appalachian State Athletics Director, according to WRAL Radio in Raleigh, (and while there is no proof that he actually applied) is no longer a candidate for the vacant North Carolina State University Athletics Director position. The school, which dismissed AD Lee Fowler back in May, has narrowed its search down to six candidates.
Bobby Purcell, who has served in various roles at the school during his 23 year stay at North Carolina State, is among the six remaining candidates. Cobb, a NC State graduate who played football for the Wolfpack, was also a member of the NC State athletic department from 1998-2005, serving as the Wolfpack's senior associate athletics director for external operations. Cobb, an academic All-American football player, earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from N.C. State in 1990.
