Three suspects have been arrested in Ashe County after an incident last night in the Shatley Springs area.

The Ashe Sheriff’s Department was called to what was first reported as a fight with serious injuries at a location near the Shatley Springs Tom Fowler road at about 7:45 last night.  EMS units had to stage away from the scene for some time while deputies sorted out the incident, with some of the injured from the melee treated at the staging area and later at Ashe Medical Center.  At about 8pm, detectives were called to the scene as it began to appear that the matter was actually an armed robbery.  With that, The Ashe Sheriff’s Department issued a look-out for a late-model gray Honda four-door sedan driven by a white female with at least one black male passenger.  The car fled toward US 221and Alleghany, Wilkes, and other foothills area lawmen were alerted to the suspect vehicle.  Just before 9pm, the woman and the car were located on NC 16 at Tom Fowler road, and within minutes, well away from that scene, the two black male suspects were seen going into Ingles in West Jefferson.  With one deputy observing, other units converged on the scene and stopped the vehicle on Beaver Creek School road just after 9pm and the two suspects were arrested.  So far, other details of the incident have been released by detectives.
