Watauga High Athletic Director Tom Wright has announced that today’s sporting events scheduled to be played here in Boone have been postponed and moved to Wednesday.

The postponements includes WHS baseball, softball and soccer. WHS golf is scheduled to play its regular-season finale at the Cedar Rock Country Club in Lenior this afternoon. As of now, that match is still on.

Our coverage of WHS baseball begins at 6pm tomorrow on Oldies 100.7 FM. The game will feature a battle of righthanders. Cal Hardee, who flirted with a no-hitter his last time out and struck out a school record 16 men, goes up against Tyler Poole of the Red Tornadoes. Poole, a junior, has made a verbal committment to play baseball at the University of Mississippi in 2012.

The Pioneers currently find themselves in a three-way tie for first place with South Caldwell and Alexander Central. Those teams were scheduled to face each other in Taylorsville tonight. But the game has been cancelled because Alexander Central prinicpal Iva Moree's daughter, Caitlyn Price, was killed in an auto accident this past weekend.  Price was a sophomore at Appalachian State University.

And senior Emily Bushman of the WHS women's lacrosse team will be our guest on the dugout show.
