The fourth day of deliberations in the first-degree murder trial of Jerry Anderson was even more uneventful than previous days.

The jury reviewed audio recordings from victim Emily’s cell phone. Jury selection in the case began May 14, and there is no end in sight. Should the trial end in a hung jury, it would be up to prosecutors whether or not to retry the case. Anderson is accused of fatally shooting his wife, Emily, and stuffing her body in the toolbox of her pickup truck. Due to the amount of media attention, the trial was moved from Caldwell County to Gastonia. If convicted, Anderson could face the death penalty.
