Jonathan Frye, a 6-4 senior guard from Northern Guilford High School, has announced he will attend Appalachian State University to play basketball for Buzz Peterson next season.

Frye, who has scored over 1,000 points in his career, averaged 16 points, eight rebounds and seven assists a game last season. He was also a member of last year's team at Northern Guilford that forfeited the Class 3A state championship for using two ineligible players. Frye was not one of those players. Frye was also considering Elon and Holy Cross among his choices. The Apps and head coach Buzz Peterson will make their debut November 13 at the Holmes Center as the Mountaineers entertain UNC-Wilmington. And you can listen to the Mountaineers on WATA 1450 AM radio.
