A job fair focused on hiring military veterans is coming to the Bojangles Coliseum on Independence Boulevard in Charlotte Thursday.
The RecruitMilitary Opportunity Expo, assisted by 300 military veterans, will work to help recently returning troops and other veterans and service members find employment and opportunities.
The event is open to veterans who may already have civilian work experience, men and women who are transitioning from active duty to civilian life, members of the National Guard and reserves, and military spouses.
Veterans who attend the expo will have the opportunity to interview with a variety of national, regional and local employers.
Robert Walker, who manages RecruitMilitary expos in the Southeast, said some of the employers present at the event will include Walgreens, Bank of America, and Target.
Walker said there will also be several educational outlets present at the fair, including DeVry University, ECPI College of Technology, Gardner-Webb University and Winthrop University.
Walker encouraged veterans in the area to bring resumes, if available, because some onsite interviews with employers would be possible.
But those without resumes, however, shouldn’t be discouraged from attending, Walker said.
“Still come,” Walker said. “But be dressed for success and be prepared to give an onsite interview.”
The event will run from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
