After an overtime win against The Citadel, the Mountaineers moved up one place in The Sports Network Poll to #9.

Appalachian was able to take advantage of a James Madison loss to Hofstra, which dropped the Dukes from #7 to #13.

The CAA continues to dominate the polls with four representatives in the top 10.

The Richmond Spiders remain atop the rankings, followed by Villanova, Northern Iowa, Montana, and New Hampshire.  Southern Illinois, McNeese State, William & Mary, App State, and Elon round out the top 10.

Although ASU and Elon are the Southern Conference’s only representatives in the top 25 poll, every SoCon team received top 25 votes except Western Carolina and Wofford.  Furman received 54 votes, Samford fetched 39, Chattanooga had 22, Georgia Southern received 14, and The Citadel had one top 25 vote.

The Apps take a break from conference play with a homecoming date with North Carolina Central on Saturday.  After Saturday’s matchup, however, the Mountaineers really get into the meat of their SoCon schedule as they play Wofford, Georgia Southern, and Furman in consecutive weeks.
