wasu_logo.jpgAppalachian State’s student-run radio station, 90.5 WASU-FM, is competing for the top college radio station in the country.

According to station manager and ASU senior, Jon Wood, the station is competing to win the MTV Woodie Award for the best college radio station in the United States.

Wood said someone outside the radio station nominated WASU for this award.

MTV named WASU a top 100 station.  So far, Wood said ASU’s college station is in the top 50.  Officials will cut the field into the top 25 on September 29, before dwindling the pack down to five main nominations.

Wood said if WASU is able to be a top five college radio station, the station would be mentioned during one of MTV’s awards shows.

Residents can vote for WASU to win the MTV Woodie Award at http://radiowoodie.ratemyprofessors.com.
