Spot fire distracts firefighters at Shortoff PDF Print
Written by Lauren Ohnesorge

Firefighters at the Shortoff Mountain fire hit a small snag yesterday.

It was the intention of the forest service to proceed with burnout operations, but a small spot fire, approximately 50 acres across the containment line, kept firefighters occupied, according to incident information officer Gil Knight.

Not all was lost, however.

The spot fire actually burned part of the area firefighters were hoping to set fire to.

The spot fire is now under control, Knight said.

Firefighters will be reviewing the containment plan and may proceed with burnout operations today.
