General Assembly works towards Medicaid deal PDF Print

House and Senate Democratic leaders hope to finalize a Medicaid deal.
Chambers have presented several ways to relieve counties of their Medicaid costs. Medicaid costs are expected to exceed $500 million next year. In exchange for covering county costs, the state might get proceeds from several taxes that currently go to local governments. Local governments may be given the option to generate new taxes.
