SoCon Media Day set for Tuesday PDF Print

The Southern Conference preseason football media teleconference will be held on Tuesday morning in Spartanburg, SC.


And it will be streamed live on It all begins with Commissioner John Iamarino at 8:45 am kicking off the event. Appalachian State coach Jerry Moore and Walter Payton Award winner and consensus All-American quarterback Armanti Edwards will field questions beginning at 12:45 pm.

Fans are encouraged to participate this season. Fans may submit their questions by email to the following address on the SoCon website: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . You must include: your name, your hometown, your favorite SoCon team, which coach and player you are directing your question to, and your question. Each interview session will last 45 minutes. Here is the lineup for Tuesday morning:


8:45-Commissioner John Iamarino
9 am-The Citadel: Coach Kevin Higgins and player Andre Roberts (9:30)
9:45-Wofford: Coach Mike Ayers and player Mitch Clark (10:15)
10:30-Chattanooga: Coach Russ Huesman and player Joseph Thornton (11 am)
11:15-Furman: Coach Bobby Lamb and player Justin Brown (11:45)
12 noon-Georgia Southern: Coach Chris Hatcher and player Cole Fountain (12:30)
12:45-Appalachian State: Coach Jerry Moore and player Armanti Edwards (1:15)
1:30-Western Carolina: Coach Dennis Wagner and player Chris Collins (2 pm)
2:15-Elon: Coach Pete Lembo and player Terrell Hudgins (2:45)
3 pm-Samford: Coach Pat Sullivan and player Chris Evans (3:30)
ASU will open the season at East Carolina Saturday, September 5. The game will be televised on MASN (the first of five TV appearances this season) beginning at high noon. You can also here the game on the Voice of the Mountaineers in the High Country, WATA 1450 AM. The home opener will be September 12 v. McNeese State. Kick-off is set for 3:30.
NOTES: Our first broadcast of Watauga High football will be Friday, August 21 when the Pioneers travel to Ashe County. Air time is set for 6:30 on Oldies 100.7 FM. WHS home opener will be the endowment game v. Shelby Friday, August 29.
