A Taylorsville couple was stopped for speeding and driving while intoxicated on Interstate 77 in Wythe County, Virginia, on Thursday morning.  When officers took a closer look at the van, they found a body in the back of the vehicle.

The Hickory Daily Record Reports the body of an unidentified woman stuffed behind the back seat of 42-year-old Jerry Wayne and 31-year-old Lisa Church Damron’s 2002 Ford Astro van.

The woman was shot multiple times and was reportedly wrapped in a blanket.  Officers also reportedly found three pistols in the van.

Wythe County Sheriff Douglas King told Media General News Service, “They came to the wrong place.  You’re drunk, speeding, and you’ve got a dead body in the back of your van.  That’s certainly not rocket science.”

The van was stopped about 8:30 this morning and was clocked going 85 mph in a 65 mph zone.

Both Lisa Church Damron and Jerry Wayne Damron were arrested.

Our Foothills Bureau reports both area also facing multiple charges in Caldwell County from a crash that occurred in the Dudley Shoals area last September that killed their 8-year-old son.
