Stephen Curry, who led Davidson College to the NCAA Elite Eight two years ago, is now officially a member of the Golden State Warriors.
Curry, who was selected by the Warriors with the seventh pick in the NBA draft on June 25, signed his first professional contract on Wednesday. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the contract is worth in the neighborhood of $12.7 million dollars over a four-year period, if the Warriors pick up the options on the final two seasons of the deal.
Curry was a consensus All-America selection last season. He led the nation in scoring averaging 28.6 points-per-game. A 6-3 point/shooting guard, Curry averaged 25.3 ppg, five steals, four assists and two steals in 104 games during his three year stay at Davidson. He also shot 47% from the floor, 41% from the three-point line and 88% from the free-throw line during his collegiate career.
Curry, who will wear jersey #30 this season, is currently in Las Vegas. He has passed his team physical and he will play for the Warriors summer league team beginning on Friday. His father Dell played 16 years in the NBA from 1986-87 to 2001-02.
