The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook advisory for most of western North Carolina including Avery County and the Burke and Caldwell County Mountains.

Weather officials say showers and thunderstorms will continue through this evening.

The storms are expected to be very slow moving and a threat of flash floods could increase after nightfall.

Large hail is also a possibility for this afternoon into the early evening.
