The Watauga High baseball team was victimized by the rain once again on Monday.

So, WHS coach Pete Hardee has announced that the Northwestern 4A title game will be played at WHS-High Field Tuesday night at 6:30 pm. Our coverage begins at 5:55 pm on 100.7 MAC-FM.

The Pioneers (17-6 overall, and the No.1 seed in the NW4A) will most likely have Jon Sharpe on the mound. The Spartans (18-4, and the No.2 seed) will go with right-hander Cody Poarch.

The play-in game for the fourth and final playoff spot between A.C. Reynolds and East Burke in Marion at McDowell High is on as scheduled. First pitch for that one begins at 7 pm. The state playoffs begin on Friday.

The WHS softball team was rained out tonight against South Caldwell in the opening round of the NW4A tournament in Sawmills. They will play it on Tuesday night at 6 pm. The Pioneers, a No.6 seed, are 5-15 this season. South Caldwell is the No.3 seed.

The WHS soccer team will open the state playoffs in Charlotte on Wednesday against Providence, the No.2 seed from the Southwestern 4A Conference. Game time is set for 6 pm.
