The Appalachian State athletic department has announced that Buzz Peterson will be officially introduced to the media and the general public as the school’s new men’s basketball coach on Monday, May 11th.   The press conference will be aired live on AM 1450 WATA.

The press conference begins at 10 am at the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center. Peterson, who is in his second go-round with the Mountaineers, accepted the position last Wednesday.

He led ASU to 79 wins, a Southern Conference tournament championship, was two-time SoCon Coach of the Year, led the Mountaineers to three consecutive 20-win seasons, and to the NCAA tournament during his first stint as head coach from 1997-2000. Peterson was also an assistant coach at ASU in the late 1980s before he left to take an assistant coaching job at Vanderbilt. Peterson has also coached at Tulsa, Tennessee and Coastal Carolina. In 11 years, Peterson has won 201 games and an NIT championship. He was the Player Personnel Director of the Charlotte Bobcats the last two years before he accepted the ASU head-coaching position.
