WHS baseball coach Pete Hardee has announced that the Pioneers baseball team will flip-flop their games witht Alexander Central on Friday.
The Pioneers (7-2 overall; 4-1 and in first place in the Northwestern 4A Conference) will play their varsity game at 4:30 pm, and the JV game will follow. And with the early start on Friday, our coverage on 100.7, MAC-FM will begin at 3:55 pm on Friday. The Pioneers begin the day leading both South Caldwell and McDowell by one-half game for first place. Alexander Central begins the day in fourth-place tie with A.C. Reynolds. Both teams have identical 2-2 conference records.
The Pioneers will have the right-hander Cal Hardee on the mound. Hardee, a junior, is 3-0 with a 1.56 earned-run-average. And the Pioneers have been pretty successful in Taylorsville in recent years, winning two of their last three meetings down there, which includes a 12-6 win last April. Jake Wallace had his best game as a Pioneer with two hits, a home run and five runs-batted-in as WHS nailed down the number three seed in the conference tournament.
In other games tonight, South Caldwell is at A.C. Reynolds (but this game might be rained out and may be rescheduled on Monday), and McDowell entertains Freedom.
