Public hearing tonight: Eminent domain of golf course PDF Print

A public hearing on the Town of Seven Devil’s possible eminent domain action on the former golf course at Hawksnest is scheduled for 5:30 this evening.

According to town manager Brand Lambert, the golf course has been the subject of controversy since closing two years ago. Residents have called the location an eyesore and feared it would decrease property value.  Tonight’s meeting is about balancing citizens’ wishes, Lambert says. Eminent domain is only one of the options. Lambert says the hearing's purpose is to get ideas from citizens so the board can decide what is best for the most people.

The facility is privately owned by Leonard Cottom, who was not available for comment.
