andraknight.jpgThe Sugar Mountain Police Department, the Avery County Sheriff’s Office, and Municipal Drug Task Force arrested two women last Friday, charging them with various drug-related felonies.

Avery County Sheriff Kevin Frye said authorities arrested 30-year-old Andra Knight and 31-year-old Angela Stewart for felony possession with intent to sale marijuana and cocaine as well as felony possession of marijuana and cocaine.

Stewart was also charged with maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances.

Frye said about a ¼ pound of marijuana, about a ½ an ounce of cocaine, and several items of drug paraphernalia were seized from the residence.

The State Bureau of Investigation will perform the exact weight and content analysis.

Frye said, “I applaud the efforts of the Sugar Mountain Police Department, they had several ongoing investigations involving this residence but they put them on hold until we could finish our joint drug investigation.  This is just another example of how important our drug task force is and how important it is that we all work together to combat the drug problem.”

According to Frye, the arrests occurred after authorities executed a search warrant at a residence on Sugar Mountain.
