21-year-old Jacob Michael Kocina of Crumpler is in Boone Police custody today, charged with one felony count of first-degree burglary and one misdemeanor count of assault inflicting serious injury.

The charges are the result of an investigation into an early Monday morning incident in which an Old East King Street residence was broken into and a resident assaulted, say police. The man was initially taken into custody by Ashe County sheriff’s deputies. Additional suspects and charges are forthcoming, according to police. Kocina is being held under a $25,000 bond and faces a June 28 court date.
