North Carolina to track emissions PDF Print

North Carolina has teamed up with a volunteer climate registry for reporting emissions. The registry helps states track their progress in release reduction.

Climate Registry is a nonprofit group that allows both businesses and industries to voluntarily report emissions. If carbon dioxide emissions were to be federally capped, the registry would enable businesses to claim credit for their reduction. Approximately 30 states have joined the registry. North Carolina officials plan to require carbon-dioxide data from industries that have state permits allowing them to release pollution.
