Rehabilitation at Gorge continues PDF Print

Rehabilitation efforts by firefighters assigned to the Pisgah wildfire will continue today.

Two crews, a helicopter, engine and dozer are being used for the efforts. Crews will be placed at specific areas of the fire perimeter in order to accomplish rehabilitation objectives. Crews will also be scanning the perimeter lines and interior for any tell-tale smokes. Such smoke would show heat still harboring in stumps and logs. Work will include cleaning up trails and fire lines. The rehabilitation and monitoring is expected to continue for the duration of this week before the local U.S. Forest Service team hands operations back to the Grandfather Ranger District. Closures in the Linville Gorge Wilderness and the Table Rock area continue today.
