Well, it didn't take long for Watauga High girls' tennis coach Robin Ebaugh to make her mark.

Ebaugh, WHS' fourth head coach in the last four years, led the Pioneers (1-0) to a 9-0 opening-day win against Ashe County in West Jefferson, N.C., on Wednesday afternoon.

Meghan Smith got things started with a straight sets win at No.1 singles. She disposed of Hallie Brown of the Huskies, 6-0, 6-2, and WHS pulled away from there.

The Pioneers, who didn't lose a set in singles play, clinched the match when Elizabeth Allport defeated Keli Caddell, 6-2, 6-1, at No.5 single.

The Pioneers will play their home opener Saturday against Roxboro-Person at 4 p.m.
