Texas State, who placed second in the Sun Belt last season, was picked to place second again, notching three first-place votes and a total of 99 points. Longtime Southern Conference rival Georgia Southern was tabbed third with 95 points.

Following the Eagles in fourth-place was UT Arlington (83 points), South Alabama in fifth-place (73 points) and UL Lafayette in sixth (63 points).

In their inaugural season in the Sun Belt the Mountaineers were picked to place seventh, tallying 62 points. They were followed by Arkansas State (58 points), Troy (41 points), Georgia State (28 points) and UL Monroe (11 points).
